Stunning images unveiled as Wildlife Photographer of the Year arrives in Seaton.

The on loan from the Natural History Museum in London, , featuring exceptional images which capture fascinating animal behaviour, spectacular species and the breathtaking diversity of the natural world. Whilst inspiring curiosity and wonder, the images also remind us of the fragility of our planet and our responsibility to protect it.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year is the most prestigious photography event of its kind, providing a global platform that showcases the natural world’s most astonishing and challenging sights for over 50 years. Launching in 1965 and attracting 361 entries, today the competition receives over 48,000 entries from 100 countries, highlighting its enduring appeal. This year’s 100 award-winning images will embark on an international tour that will allow them to be seen by over a million people.

Dr Tim Littlewood, Director of Science at the Natural History Museum and member of the competition’s judging panel, says, 'For more than fifty years this competition has attracted the world's very best photographers, naturalists and young photographers, but there has never been a more important time for audiences all over the world to experience their work in our inspiring and impactful exhibition. Photography has a unique ability to spark conversation, debate and even action. We hope this year's exhibition will empower people to think differently about our planet and our critical role in its future.'

The Exhibition will be open at Seaton Station until April 3^rd. The Natural History Museum exhibition is the first of many events and exhibitions that celebrate the Tramway’s 50^th year of operation at Seaton.

Seaton Tramway will also be hosting a number of events & experiences linked to the exhibition at Seaton. The Wildlife & Landscape Photography Trams will be returning for a second year allowing budding new and experienced photographers exclusive access to the Axe Valley from a vantage point not found anywhere else, on top of a double decker tram. An experienced photographer will act as guide for those wishing to know more about how to get the best out of their equipment.

New for 2020, are two new workshops to which access to the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition is included. ‘Picture This’, a creative writing course, led by a local author and scriptwriter for fun and informal workshops. Perfect for beginners, adults will draw inspiration from the exhibition and the rest of the Axe Valley, focusing on a different aspect of creative writing at each of the three dates - The workshops will run: 7^th & 21^st March and 4^th April.
‘Wild Art’ Workshop is great for families and will also allow access to the Exhibition before going and creating your own Wild Art, using a mixture of available materials. Departing Seaton, 17^th & 18^th February and 14^th March.
