Stunning images unveiled as Wildlife Photographer of the Year arrives in Seaton

The world-renowned exhibition, on loan from the Natural History Museum in London, will open at Seaton Tramway on 10th March, featuring exceptional images which capture fascinating animal behaviour, spectacular species and the breathtaking diversity of the natural world.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year is the most prestigious photography event of its kind, providing a global platform that showcases the natural world’s most astonishing and challenging sights for over 50 years. Launching in 1965 and attracting 361 entries, today the competition receives over 45,000 entries from 95 countries highlighting its enduring appeal. This year’s 100 award-winning images will embark on an international tour that will allow them to be seen by over a million people.

Jan English, Head of Touring Exhibitions at the Natural History Museum, says ‘Wildlife Photographer of the Year celebrates the very best nature photography, and it is consistently one of our most successful touring exhibitions, enjoyed by millions every year. These images tell thought-provoking stories about our planet that prompt us all to think differently about the natural world and the future we want to create.’

The Exhibition will call Seaton Station home for 63 days. Seaton Tramway opened the doors on its brand-new £3 million station on 28th June 2018. The project was 10 years in the making and marked a new era for the East Devon Attraction. The Natural History Museum exhibition is the first of many events and exhibitions planned for the new station and sees the world-renowned exhibition as a fantastic premiere of what the station is able to deliver.

Seaton Tramway will also be hosting their Wildlife & Landscape Photography Trams. New for 2019, these trips will allow exclusive access to the Axe Valley, through two nature reserves with a professional photographer as guide. Whether you have been taking photos for years, or you are just starting out, our guide will talk you through the best way to get the most out of your photography.
