Double win for Seaton Tramway in Devon Tourism Awards 2016

11th November, 2016

Devon’s top tourism businesses were celebrating last night (Nov 10th) at the 7th annual Devon Tourism Awards in the Great Hall of the University of Exeter.

Hosted by Judi Spiers and with special guest Jo Pavey, 75 awards were presented to winners in categories such as Glamping, Spa & Wellbeing, Hotels, Restaurants, Pubs and Attractions.

Seaton Tramway was shortlisted out of 155 entries as a finalist in two categories of the 2016 Devon Tourism Awards and was presented with both a Silver Award for ‘Large Attraction of the Year’ and a Bronze award for ‘Artistic, Cultural & Learning Experience’ at the prestigious Awards Ceremony.

Judges were not just looking for ‘good’ but ‘excellent’ standards and this marks a very significant achievement for the Tramway that reflects a massive whole team effort throughout the year.

Chief Executive of Seaton Tramway, Jenny Nunn, said: “This is definitive testament to the hard work, passion, dogged determination and attention to detail from all who strive to make Seaton Tramway an excellent visitor attraction, and now, we can now proudly say, one of the BEST visitor attractions in Devon. The two awards are indeed great accolades which reflect a consistently focussed team effort throughout the year. You only have to think back to February 2014 and the ‘great storm’, which brought huge devastation to the Tramway at the time, to realise how far we have come in such a short space of time.”

Due to its success in the Devon Tourism Awards the Tramway will also be fast tracked into the South West Tourism Excellence Awards in February 2017, with nominees in matching categories invited to represent Devon in to the National VisitEngland Awards later in 2017.
