Bird Watching with Ian Waite

Birdwatching with Ian Waite - 29th October 2017

What a way to end this year’s programme!

We bathed in sunshine watching a Great White Egret at Colyford Common.

A real highlight, and for some their first ever sighting of this species.

They now breed on Somerset Levels and have occasional ‘away days’ visiting sites such as Seaton Wetlands.

Of course many other birds were seen in good numbers, a flight of approximately 100 Lapwing was impressive as was a Kingfisher perched unconcerned with our presence.

A Greenshank was seen amongst the usual waders, and hundreds of Wigeon were spotted as they settle down to spend the winter here.

Looking forward to next year’s trips already!
