LAUNCH OF NEW PINK TRAM

Press Release

Don’t get blue, get the new pink tram
Pink is the new black, so the catwalk will have us believe, and things are positively rosey at Seaton Tramway where they will shortly be launching their homage to the Spice Girls and Barbie in the form of a brilliant-pink tram… yes, it’s true - this is no pigment of the imagination, and all pink wannabes are welcome.

The inspiration came from the commission and production of two thousand limited edition pink Lledo tram models on sale from Monday 16th July at the Tramway shops of which a pound from each one sold will go to Breast Cancer Care and local charities. “The demand for the models has been so great, we decided to do the real thing”, said Managing Director, Jenny Nunn, “and pink being the true embodiment of elegance should show to all our visitors that we cater for all colour preferences with our fleet of trams. Everyone has entered into the spirit of the big pink event and even the driver will be colour-coordinated on the launch day.

In fact, the first passengers to arrive at Seaton Terminus on Friday 27th July at 11.30 am dressed totally in pink will get to ride to Colyton and back (seats limited) and be invited to partake of perfect pink refreshments free of charge as a unique way of celebrating our pinkness. As part of Seaton Tramway’s commitment to raising funds for local charities and events, Breast Cancer Care has been invited to attend and we have been lucky enough to secure a much-loved celebrity to officially launch the pink tram sending it on its maiden voyage to Colyton”. The Coly River Jazz Band will also escort the pink tram en route from Seaton.

In addition, Colyton Christmas Fayre committee have not paled at the pink challenge and are joining in the fun by arranging for hundreds of pink balloons to be released from Colyton Station on the pink tram’s arrival. Each balloon will cost £1.00 and gets entered into a race with the great first prize of a hot air balloon ride for the one that travels the furthest. Tickets are available at shops, restaurants, accommodation providers in Colyton and at Seaton Tramway shops. All funds will go to supporting Colyton Christmas Fayre running from 5th – 9th December, which this year will be a even bigger event with an ice-skating rink, Christmas market with crafts and gifts, live jazz band, festive food and drink. Visit colytonxmasfayre.co.uk for further information.

The Kingfisher in Dolphin Street, Colyton will be welcoming anyone with a pink inclination on 27th July with a special pink cocktail selection. Colyton Station will also be hosting “A Really Wild Encounter” with an array of unusual creatures which will amaze kids and adults alike.
