It's not only electric, it's environmentally-friendly too…

Being close to nature and being passionate about preserving the environment for future generations to enjoy, is our company ethos. We believe that we can help protect the countryside and the wildlife that surrounds us in a sustainable way by working with the RSPB, Devon Wildlife Trust, Axe Valley Conservation Society and East Devon District Council. The Tramway is one of the greenest forms of transport.

To do this we use as much renewable energy and products from sustainable sources in the operation and administration of the company as possible. We listen to our customers and the local community and have taken the lead in lowering our carbon footprint and minimising waste by recycling and using products from sustainable sources, such as the paper used to print our leaflets, the oils and paints used in the workshops and the local ingredients used by the Tramstop Restaurant, many of which have travelled a fraction of a food mile from Colyford, if not Devon or Dorset. The aim over the next couple of years is to turn the piece of waste ground behind Colyton Station into an original, yet organic station master's potager garden, attracting wildlife by clever planting and using the home-grown produce in our restaurant.

We are also committed to local community projects and fund-raising such as supporting Seaton Scouts with their carnival float, Devon Air Ambulance, Seaton & Beer RNLI, Colyton Christmas Fayre Committee and of course Breast Cancer Care for which we raise awareness with our perfectly pink tram.
